The Aquaponic System56 viewsThis photo shows the overall setup of the aquaponic system. Note that the water is fed back into the sump via a syphon system. It works best if the end of the syphon is kept submerged, otherwise the geese wash their bottoms on it and stop the syphon's flow. The syphon pipe is kept submerged and in place with the help of a couple of bricks. 1 commentsGUINEITH

Aquaponic Garden Bed.45 viewsThis is a close up view of the veggies. You can see I have got lettuces, capsicum, celery, tomatoes, basil and parsley. GUINEITH

Aquaponic Goose Pond45 viewsThe goose's pond is also the sump for the hydroponic system. Water is pumped from the pond to the hydro bed with an ordinary 1500 lph pond pump tied inside a (white) feed sack. The feed sack stops the pump from getting clogged with sand, poo and other debris and also stops the geese from playing with it, chewing the cord etc. The water is gravity fed through the bed which has a slight (approx 1/100) gradient. The blue handled tap is to control the flow into the hydroponic system. GUINEITH

Aquaponic Garden Bed.34 viewsThis is the hydroponic half of my aquaponic system. Every time I look at these plants, it seems that they have grown! The garden mesh is to stop the dogs from taking their baths in it!GUINEITH

My Fox Control Program35 viewsJimmy and Millie work hard, 24 hours a day, guarding my flocks from the ravages of Mr Fox and Mr Rat. They love a good hunt and that includes anything small and fluffy, including feral cats and stray dogs. Although they are canines, they are very much a part of my poultry program and I don't think I could do it without them. Gold stars to them both! (BTW, Jimmy is the Brindle, Millie is the Black). Vermin chaser #322 viewsThis is the third member of my vermin control team-Goldie. I couldn't not mention her. She is an outstanding varmint chaser, although she has also been known to knock off the odd chicken too, if I'm not careful! Cheeky girl! GUINEITH
